1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that websites send to the user's device (computer, tablet, smartphone), where they are stored and then sent back to the same site on later visits. They enable authentication, session tracking and storing information: without "technical" cookies some operations would be difficult or impossible. "Profiling" cookies, on the other hand, can monitor browsing and collect data about preferences, habits and personal choices to build detailed profiles.
"Third-party" cookies are set by a website other than the one being visited. This happens because pages often include elements (images, maps, sounds, links to other domains) hosted on different servers.
2. Rules on cookie consent
Current legislation (the EU ePrivacy Directive and GDPR, and in Italy the Italian Data Protection Authority's Guidelines on cookies and other tracking tools of 10 June 2021) requires website operators to inform users about the cookies and tracking tools they use, and divides them into technical and profiling tools.
2.1 Technical cookies
Used only to transmit a communication or when strictly necessary to provide a service explicitly requested by the user. They include:
- Navigation / session cookies: allow normal use of the website (e.g. logging in to restricted areas);
- Analytics cookies, when used directly by the site owner in aggregate form to improve the site;
- Functionality cookies: remember choices made by the user (e.g. language) to improve the service.
No consent is required for technical cookies, but users must be informed about them.
2.2 Profiling cookies
Used to build user profiles and show advertising based on browsing preferences. Because of their impact on privacy, they require clear information and the user's explicit prior consent.
2.3 First-party and third-party cookies
First-party cookies are managed by the site owner, who must explain what they do and how to block them. Third-party cookies are managed by external parties, who must provide their own information; the site owner must link to it.
2.4 Session and persistent cookies
Session cookies last only for the visit and are deleted when the browser is closed. Persistent cookies remain on the device until they expire or are deleted manually.
3. What this website stores
- No cookies of any kind are set by this website.
- Theme preference: if you switch between the light and dark theme, your choice
is saved in your browser's local storage (key
theme) so the page remembers it. It never leaves your device, is not used to identify you and can be deleted at any time from your browser settings. It is a functional, strictly necessary tool and needs no consent. - No third-party resources: fonts, icons and images are all served from this domain, so no external provider receives your IP address while you browse.
- Contact: the email address is only used when you choose to write to me; no contact form or data collection is present on this site.
